Electron-rich and electron-poor heterobimetallic butterfly clusters:: synthesis and structure of [Ru3Ir(CO)8(μ3-H)(μ-Cl)2(μ-PtBu2)2(tBu2PH)] and [Ru3Au(CO)10(μ-Cl)(tBu2PH)]

摘要
The cluster [Ru3Ir(CO)(8)(mu (3)-H)(mu -Cl)(2)(mu -(PBu2)-Bu-t)(2)((Bu2PH)-Bu-t)] (3) has been isolated from the reaction of [Ru-3(CO)(12)] with [Ir((Bu2PH)-Bu-t)(3)Cl] in refluxing toluene. The analogous reaction of [Ru-3(CO)(12)] with [Au((Bu2PH)-Bu-t)Cl] in refluxing THF gave [Ru3Au(CO)(10)(mu -Cl)((Bu2PH)-Bu-t)] (4) in good yield. The single-crystal X-ray structure analyses reveal both clusters to contain a Ru3M butterfly skeleton. With respect to the EAN electron count of 62e, 3 can be considered as electron-rich (64e), while 4 is electron-poor (60e). (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
