摘要:
Mobile and stationary diesel engines and boilers are contributing largely to the worldwide NO(x) emissions. They use very poor quality fuel for economical reasons (heavy fuel oil). The introduction of water into the combustion chamber reduces the combustion temperature due to the absorption of energy for vaporization and it increases the specific heat capacity of the cylinder gases. Emulsification of the fuel with water is a way to reduce the NO(x) emissions of engines and boilers. The ultrasonic emulsification is an effective means for generating fine-size fuel/water-emulsions. This paper presents a possibility of producing the water-heavy fuel emulsions by means of ultrasounds.
