Mediatorrent: A new P2P multimedia file distribution protocol

摘要
Propose a new P2P file distribution protocol, MediaTorrent, to address the drawbacks in the popular BiMrrent protocol. The protocol uses a max partition transfer strategy to ensure the downloaded data blocks are evenly distributed across the entire multimedia file so that the users can preview it before finishing downloading the entire file. In addition, it employs an incentive-based peer selection mechanism based on game theory to naturally avoid the free riding problem. The performance analysis demonstrates that the proposed MediaTorrent is better than the BitTorrent protocol in terms of file downloading speed.
