摘要
Alkali-activated material, a new eco-friendly alternative to conventional cement binders, has been produced using alumino-silicate material and alkaline activator. Those alumino-silicate material can be formulated by adding natural minerals, waste and /or industrial by-products. This study investigates the mechanical and microstructural properties of alkali-activated cement synthesized from fly ash and soda residue activated by NaOH. The mineralogy phases, microstructure and product compositions were characterized by SEM-EDS, XRD and FTIR. The study reveals that product gels are identified as the coexistence of hydration and polymerization gels containing Ca and Na, which show glassy microstructures in X-ray patterns. The results provide experimental basis for the scientific utilization of SR to an industrial scale. (C) 2019 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
