Maintenance decision-makers must respond to a number of developments in the world of maintenance - due to increased expectations, changed understanding about how assets behave and changes in maintenance technique. RCM (reliability-centred maintenance) provides a decisionmaking toolkit to ensure that all aspects of business effectiveness and risk are satisfied, and often does so within very short timescales, Critical elements include thorough understanding of the operating context, process interdependecies and systematic analysis of the cost-effectiveness of possible maintenance strategies.
