The ability of systems based on Ni, Al and Ti to be synthesized by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS)

摘要
Ni-, Al- and Ti-based intermetallics obtained by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) were studied. Proportions of Ni, Al and Ti in an initial low-density mixture that allow SHS to be performed in argon and nitrogen environments were determined. It was determined that the nitrogen environment for synthesis significantly extends the proportions range because of additional heat evolved during nitride generation. Investigation results allow prediction of types of materials that would be obtained by synthesis. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
