Many studies have been carried out on the bearing capacity of shallow foundations on sand placed near a slope, or subjected to eccentric or/and inclined loads, but few of them deals with the combination of all these parameters. This paper presents the experimental and numerical work done at the LCPC, on the bearing capacity of shallow foundations near slopes, subjected to inclined and eccentric loads. The experimental devices and the results obtained are presented, and in the second part, we describe the first numerical simulations carried out using a finite element model. This model could be used to extrapolate the centrifuge tests results to cases that can not be studied experimentally.
