Polymyositis, dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis are idiopathic inflammatory myopathies of unknown etiology with probable autoimmune pathogenesis. Overlap syndromes represent a special form within this group with extramuscular manifestation of the disease. For choosing on individual and efficient therapy, diagnostic assignment is on important factor. Diagnostic criteria and therapeutic options ore listed and discussed.
