摘要
Research on visual perception in schizophrenia has brought a large amount of data showing perceptual impairments in patients suffering from schizophrenia. These impairments manifest in abnormalities in perceptual organization as well as in more subtle symptoms such as contrast sensitivity, form and motion perception. They are present even in patients in remission and in their relatives and they change during the course of the illness. Considering that they are partial manifestations of neurobiological abnormalities and alterations in connectivity in the brain, investigating them might contribute to better understanding of the illness. The article presents a summary of major research in visual perception impairments in schizophrenia.
