摘要
This is the first ethnopharmacological survey among traditional healers in Yemen that has been conducted to investigate the herbal remedies used in the treatment of malaria. Sixteen traditional healers from three governorates in Yemen participated in this survey in which a pre-tested questionnaire was used to collect information on the herbal remedies used for the treatment of malaria. Overall, 18 anti-malarial remedies consisting of either a single or a combined plant preparation are used by traditional healers. In total, 21 plant species belonging to 14 families are used in these remedies. Moreover, this is the first time that the anti-malarial use of 15 of these species has been documented for Yemen. In conclusion, this study provides a new ethnopharmacological database of anti-malarial remedies in Yemen, which will be useful in further pharmacological and phytochemical investigations. © 2020 Elsevier GmbH
