Voltammetric and ellipsometric studies of films formed on 304 stainless steel in sulphuric acid solution without and with benzotriazole

摘要
The formation of an inhibitive film of benzotriazole (BTAH) on the surface of 304 stainless steel (SS) in 0.01 M H2SO4, was studied by voltammetric and ellipsometric measurements. BTAH acts as an inhibitor of the corrosion process on the entire range of the studied potentials. The ellipsometric studies showed that the thickness of BTAH film depends on the applied potential, changing from 79 Angstrom to 1140 Angstrom.
