A Basset Hound was presented at consultation for repeated open-mouthed jaw locking Temporomandibular dysplasia was diagnosed Three quarters of the ventral zygomatic arch were surgically resected Temporomandibular dysplasia is a rare condition in dogs. Diagnosis is by clinical examination (palpation of bony projections). Radiography is used to define the area and extent of the lesions Surgery is the only method of treatment and includes ablation of a portion of the ventral zygomatic arch plication of the temporomandibular joint capsule. mandibular symphysis fixation with screws or total ablation of the condyle (7 photos, 14 references).
