Preparation of high-performance PrFeB/α-Fe nanocomposite magnets by direct Joule heating

摘要
Rapidly-quenched Pr12Fe83B5 amorphous ribbons were annealed by a direct Joule heating method. Precipitation of Pr2Fe14B and alpha-Fe multi-phases resulted in a high coercivity of approximately 600 kA/m on average. This value was higher by approximately 200 kA/m than that of pulse-annealed nanocomposite magnets with an infrared furnace, which suggests that high performance nanocomposite magnets can be obtained by the Joule heating method. It was also clarified that the suppression of surface oxidation would achieve a further improvement in magnetic properties of the above-mentioned nanocomposite magnets. (C) 2003 Elsevier B. V.
