A Novel Miniaturized Dual-Band Slot Antenna for WLAN/WiMAX Communications

摘要
In this paper, a dual-band slot antenna is proposed. The dual-band slot antenna has a novel structure and a small size. The antenna is made of two 0.4-mm thick conducting plates with a compact size of 15 mm x 40 mm and relative dielectric constant of 4.4, and the probe feeder and shorting pins are made of three 6-mm long conductors between the two substrates. This dual-band slot antenna is designed and simulated by the high frequency structure simulator (HFSS) software. In order to get the specific size of the antenna, the key parameters are simulated, analyzed and optimized. The results show that the antenna has two frequency bands of 3.1 GHz and 4.6 GHz. These two frequency bands can be used in WLAN/WiMAX communications. In addition, the antenna has a very good performance in other aspects like bandwidth.
