摘要
The A549 lung cancer cells processed with Bergamot essential oil (BEO) showed clear signs of leading cells to apoptosis after the 24-hour cultivation. Therefore, the DAPI was stained. The result manifested that there were more apoptosis bodies with an increase in the dose of bergamot within the 24 hours. The Annesxin V/PI double staining was adopted to ensure that there was the apoptosis of the A549 lung cancer cells processed with bergamot. The protein expression analysis with western blotting showed that there was a reduction in the protein expression of pro-caspase-3, pro-caspase -8 and pro-caspase -9, which resulted in the decomposition of PARP protein. The Bcl-2 family can be divided into anti-apoptosis protein and pro-apoptosis protein. The expression of anti-apoptosis protein Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL was restrained, while there was an increase in the expression of pro-apoptosis protein Bax and Bid. This demonstrates that bergamot leads the cells to apoptosis through the apoptosis of exogenous and endogenous mitochondria. Therefore, bergamot can be seen as an effective natural substance in the cancer treatment and the prevention of aging-related diseases.
