Giant-cell myocarditis: Cause of sudden death

Myocarditis is commonly a mild or subclinical disease, but it may cause fatal heart failure or underline sudden cardiac death. The clinical cource, unlike that of lymphocytic myocarditis, is usually characterized by progressive congestive heart failure, frecvently associated with refractory ventricular arrhythmia. Several instance of cardiac transplantation have been reported, however, the efficacy of transplantation has been questioned because the disease can recur in the transplanted heart. We presented an identified case after sudden death. The women of 47 old-year died within physical activity. The autopsy and histopathology of heart confirmed the giant-cell myocarditis.
