摘要
MXenes have attracted significant attention from the scientific community because of various unique properties that make them appropriate for various attractive applications. As a fast grooming family, owing to 2D transition metal carbides (TMC) as well as transition metal nitrides (TMN), demonstrates versatile promising properties for electrochemical devices. Currently, only a few reports show that MXene nanocomposites possess extraordinary optoelectronic properties. This review briefly discusses the structural and surface chemistry with the extent of optoelectronic properties that can be facilitated in MXenes-based photonic devices. The systematic synthetic methodologies are also introduced, which are the most suitable for targeted device fabrication. The next and core part of the review is the applications. The current review aims to grasp all possible photonic based-applications, including solar cells, photodetectors, light emitting diode (LED), phototransistors, and photodiodes, with deep insight into the mechanisms, working conditions, stability parameters, and performance of each type of device. Finally, but most significantly, prospective provides a comprehensive thought and road map for future research possibilities to use these well-known materials in energy harvesting devices.
