This article explores the similarities and differences between Six Sigma and other 'Quality Improvement' programs. The overwhelming success of Six Sigma is attributable to something, but what is it? The 'tools' of Six Sigma have been used for generations by educators and practitioners. Why does Six Sigma work better for some companies than others? What pitfalls should be avoided?
