摘要
Paper reports results of two-stage light gas gun experiments of basic data acquisition for space debris bumper shield research performed at the Interdisciplinary Shock Wave Research Center (ISWRC) of Tohoku University. Primary hyper-velocity impact tests were carried out to visualize projectile impingements on bumpers made of aluminum at normal and oblique angles. Resulting debris clouds between normal and oblique impacts were compared. Numerical simulations conducted by AUTODYN-2D were validated by experiments of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) projectile impacts against metallic bumpers.
