摘要
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of Ginger administration on some parameters such as weight of organs, epididymis, sperm counts, motility, viability and morphology, seminal fructose, testicular malonhydialdehyde and serum testosterone concentration in the male rats. Aqueous extract of Ginger was administered orally to two groups of male rats at 100 mg/kg b/w and 200mg/kg b/w. A third group (control group) received only distilled water. Treatment persisted for 15 and 30 days. The above parameters were measured in all groups. The treatment of rats with Ginger significantly increased (p<0.05) the weight of testis and epididymis. Sperm count and motility were also significantly increased (p <0.05). Testosterone concentration was significantly increased (p<0.05). On the other hand, malonhydialdehyde concentration was significantly reduced (p <0.05). Thus, this study showed that the oral administration of Ginger extract at 100 and 200 mg/kg for 15 and 30 days increased the weight of testes, prostates and seminal vesicles. Moreover, there was improved semen quality and quantity such as sperm count motility and viability and reduced MDA concentration and increased testosterone levels with no effect on fructose level in seminal plasma. Therefore, this study suggests that the intake of Ginger as a drink may improve sexual activity and characteristics for male who suffer from sexual impotency.
