Pain following traumatic rib fractures is one of the most common symptoms and requires adequate management initiated in the emergency department (ED). Many strategies for in-patient management of rib fracture pain have been discussed in literature, but a standardized algorithm to provide uniform care is not available. We hereby propose a multimodal "AIIM-STRAP" (Traumatic Rib fracture Acute Pain management) algorithm to achieve pain-free experience for chest injury patients and also reduce further complications resulting as a consequence of severe pain such as limited chest expansion, reduced tidal volumes, risk of atelectasis, and respiratory infections.
