Since the end of the last century and the beginning of the current one, Uruguay's agriculture has undergone important transformations, linked to the presence of new actors, transnational capital, changes in business organization, processes linked to the expansion forestry and agriculture. An appropriate macroeconomic context, high international prices, auspicious public policies and low land values encouraged the arrival of actors, who promoted changes in management models, production, financing and use of technologies. Its maximum expression is in the territorial expansion and intensification of agriculture and forestry, activities driven by agribusiness almost exclusively and its impact on livestock and dairy farming, activities which are also being transformed and intensified. The objective of this article is to show the main impacts generated in Uruguay by the forest and agricultural expansion, especially in concentration of the land, foreign production, on existing producers and changes in the strategies of the main operators. The methodology was based on the reprocessing of primary and secondary information, literature and press reviews, corporate websites and semistructured interviews with sector actors. There are major consequences in land concentration, foreign production, productive structure and control of territories and has impacted on existing producers and especially on family farmers and employment.
