A study of the ηηπ- system produced in the reaction π-p → pπ+π-π-4γ at 18GeV/c

Preliminary results are reported on the partial wave analysis of the eta eta pi (-) system in the reaction pi (-)p --> p pi (+)pi (-)pi (-)4 gamma at 18 GeV/c where both pi (0) and eta decay to gamma gamma. The data were obtained using the MultiParticle Spectrometer at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The a(0)(980) and f(0)(1500) are observed in the eta pi (-) and eta eta mass spectra, respectively. The accepted eta eta pi mass spectrum exhibits a structure consistent with the pi (1800). The results of the PWA show the pi (1800) decaying to both a(0)(980)eta and f(0)(1500)pi decay modes.
