Synthesis of algorithms for the classification of underwater objects from their underwater sound field

A methodology is set forth for the synthesis of optimal algorithms intended to classify underwater objects from their underwater sound field. This methodology takes into account the fundamental specifics of the task. As an illustration, a classification algorithm is synthesized with special reference to a passive omnidirectional sonobuoy.
