摘要
This paper discusses the future targets and technologies for an optical fiber distribution system for the FTTH era. This system consists of indoor optical fiber cables, fiber termination modules (FTMs), intermediate FTMs (IFTMs), optical fiber testing equipment in central offices. We outline the system requirements and describe a new concept to realize a highly dense and compact optical fiber distribution system. We also describe new technologies such as compact indoor cables, a high-density FTM and IFTM with highly integrated optical components, an automated FTM with jumper robots, and a central office operation system.
