摘要
Kozhuh subvolcanic body (outcrop of about 1 km(2)) is located NE of the town of Petrich in the confine of the submeridional Struma lineament. The results of conventional K-Ar age determinations of Kozhuh volcanic rocks are presented and discussed with a purpose to solve the problem of their age, which is under discussion (Neogene? or Paleogene?) during many decades. Two whole rock (w.r.) and two monomineral (biotite and plagioclase) samples were dated. According to three of the analyses the Kozhuh volcanics were intruded as a result of Middle Miocene (at about 12.5 Ma) magmatic activity. On the basis of already published and newly obtained radiometric data Kozhuh is correlated with the Neo-Petritsi trachytic subvolcanic body in Northern Greece. The Middle Miocene magmatic manifestations and the following polystage and long lasting hydrothermal activity along the Struma lineament in South-Western Bulgaria and Northern Greece are provoked and controlled by the regional tectonic processes, known as "neotectonic extension".
