摘要
This study aims to show the new dimensions of the relationship between traditional printmaking and children book illustration beyond the obvious reproductive role of the former. Following the chosen examples, it analyses various forms of this particular symbiosis, in order to fully understand its reasons, mutual advantages and possibilities in the future. The items mentioned depict the phenomenon in all traditional graphic techniques, especially relief, planographic, intaglio and silkscreen printing, often supported by modern, digital media. Giving a profound view into the used mediums, the dfficulties met and the results achieved, the article discusses both the international stage and the context of the Polish School of Illustration, including books already published as well as unreleased student projects. The materials used in this study case were collected and researched by the author within the past five years.
