A molecular imprinted polymer with cholesterol esterase activity was prepared. Polymerization of N,N′-diethyl(4-vinylphenyl)amidine in the presence of the phosphate transition state analogue 2 followed by removal of the print molecule generated a catalytically active polymer with Km of 3.7 mM and Kcat of 2.2·10-4 min-1, respectively. A relative rate enhancement of 27-fold in the presence of the control polymer were observed.
