Design and Optimization of a Nine-Phase Flux-Switching PM Generator for Wind Power Systems

摘要
In this paper, a nine-phase flux-switching permanent magnet (FSPM) generator with 36 stator slots and 34 rotor poles is designed and investigated for wind power generation systems. The proposed nine-phase FSPM generator incorporates the high torque density of conventional three-phase FSPM machines and the high fault tolerance of multiphase permanent magnet machines, which is especially suitable for low speed and high torque applications, such as off-shore wind power generation systems. Both the design parameters and dimensions are optimized by evaluating the corresponding electromagnetic performance obtained by 2D finite-element analysis (FEA). In addition, the specific end effect of the nine-phase FSPM generator is analyzed by 3-D FEA. Finally, the FEA results are validated on a scaled generator with a nominal power of 10kW.
