Automated system for the individual technical control of cattle

For guaranteeing the individual technical control of cattle in a dynamic, efficient and interactive form, the automated system CONTEC 2.0 was created. This system stores daily data on different productive and reproductive events, herd movements and milk distribution. These data are processed to obtain outputs related the National System of Statistical Information and others that will allow taking decisions, counting the animals, besides facilitating the work in the cattle units. The Methodology MetVisualE (version 1.2) was used, as well as the programming language Microsoft Access 2000 because it provides a powerful management of databases and has all the advantages of visual programming. It offers a comfortable and accessible environment for the users that interact with the system. In the software, greater efficiency is attained in the obtainment of results due to the decrease in 70 % of the data processing time and the reduction of errors to the minimum. It also provides predictions that contribute to take decisions by the producers. It is concluded that this system is a very useful tool for producers because it gives reliable and on-time information. The generalization of its application to cattle enterprises and educational and research centers is suggested.
