Kinetics of low temperature precipitation in a ULC-bake hardening steel

摘要
The kinetics and mechanism of the precipitation stage of the strain aging process in a bake hardenable ultralow carbon (ULC) steel, through measurement of changes in the yield stress were attempted as this steel contains a very low amount of solute carbon in the matrix. The strain aging phenomena in ULC steels is unaffected by the inevitable interference from the second phases such as cementite in the case of low carbon steels. Hence, apart from the carbon segregation towards grain boundaries (unlikely at low aging temperatures), any amount of carbon segregation during aging is related to the nucleation and growth of the precipitates.
