A study of the transformation kinetics from the as-quenched to the nanocrystalline slate in alloys of composition Fe(73.5)Xr(3)Cu(1)Si(13.5)B(9) (X = Ta, Mo and Nb) is presented. The nanocrystallisation process, which takes place during the first crystallisation step, was studied by thermal analysis under continuous heating. The shift of the first crystallisation peak temperature, T-X, with a heating rate, R, was used to obtain the Kissinger plots (In R/T-X(2) versus 1/T-X) and derive the apparent activation energies for the three alloys. The results show a very similar behaviour for the three alloys.
