摘要
Research in the area of automated cervical cytology has been prompted by the need to develop more efficient means of carrying out population screening programmes for cervical cancer, a disease responsible for the deaths of many women throughout the world annually. A historical survey of cytological image processing is given in this paper. The emphasis is placed on automated cervical cell processing under the fixed cell scan system.
