摘要
More than 60% of cancer cases occur among individuals aged 65 and older, but older patients, particularly those with significant comorbidities, are undertreated and underrepresented in clinical trials. Whereas older cancer patients are increasingly receiving cancer treatment, determining treatment options can be difficult. Assessment tools and approaches have been adapted or developed to assist cancer specialists in the clinical management of older persons. This article reviews the literature along three lines: the ability of a comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) to identify unrecognized problems, the ability of a CGA to predict outcomes, and the results of implementing a multidisciplinary oncogeriatric intervention.
