摘要
In this study 2D PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) is used to investigate the near wall region in pipe flow of pulp suspensions up to a concentration of 2.7% by weight. The axial mean velocity profiles show a distinct plug region which increases when the flow rate is decreased or the bulk concentration is increased. An attempt is also made to couple the light intensity in the images acquired to a concentration gradient of fibres close to the wall of the pipe. The light intensity in the images definitely indicates the existence of such a gradient in the near wall region.
