SIMILARITY REDUCTIONS FOR A (3+1)-DIMENSIONAL GENERALIZED KADOMTSEV-PETVIASHVILI EQUATION IN NONLINEAR OPTICS, FLUID MECHANICS AND PLASMA PHYSICS

摘要
In nonlinear optics, fluid mechanics and plasma physics, we study a (3+1)- dimensional generalized Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation, and as for the wave amplitude, making use of symbolic computation, work out three sets of the similarity reductions, each of which can be reduced to a known solvable ordinary differential equation. All of our results depend on the coefficients of the equation. We hope that, based on our similarity reductions, solutions of those known solvable ordinary differential equations could help the researchers investigating some wave modes in nonlinear optics, fluid mechanics and plasma physics.
