Wool fabric was dyed with 1:1 acid metal complex dyes, Palatine or Neolan. Neolan dyes were used in the formic acid method, while Palatine dyes were utilized in the aminosulfonic acid, method or the sulfuric acid method. The extractable chromium content of samples were measured by plasma emission spectrometry (ICP-AES), according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 specifications. The results show that the extractable chromium content of wool fabric dyed with Neolan dyes in the formic acid method is less than 2ppm when dye dosage does not more than 1.5% o.w.f., however, that of fabric dyed with 1.5% o.w.f. Palatine dyes is more than 2ppm. There may be a negative correlation between the structure stability of dyes and the extractable chromium content on wool fabric dyed with 1:1 acid metal complex dyes.
