As an independent, technical agency of the United Nations, the WMO has the responsibility to coordinate environmental issues related to the atmosphere including air quality on a global basis. This requires establishing a system of coordination that involving international, national and non-governmental organizations. This paper presents an overview the WMO's Global Atmosphere Watch activities to coordinate the air quality management on a world-wide basis.
