The management of the rheumatoid shoulder and elbow is a challenging problem. In this review we aim to summarise the main management options for shoulder and elbow disease placing particular emphasis on surgical treatment. We believe that by using the techniques available and with good patient setection excellent results can be achieved, reducing the patients pain and also providing independence for activities of daily living.
