摘要
The modern logistics developed at full speed in the world while it is considered as an urgent need in an economically globalized world. The present paper describes the foundation and operation of the Department of Logistics Management in Greece in response to specific educational needs. More specifically, it is emphasized that this department contributes to the general development of the local area in which it is situated The educational, economic and social results from its presence are analyzed and specific proposals for future development and activation are considered. The upper goal of our study is twofold: to enhance the significant added educational value as it results from the presence of the Department of Logistics Management in the local area of Thiva and to enrich the dialogue about the utmost utilization of a department like this for the purposes of the sustainable development.
