摘要：
To date there has been no systematic examination of the first histories of the Russian Social Democratic and Labour Party (RSDLP) published from 1904 to 1906 by party activists F. Dan, V. Akimov, M. Liadov and N. Baturin. A primary objective is an exposition of sources that are little studied. This is also the first article to compare and contrast the four histories. A further concern is to shed additional light on what factional differences meant in 1909 to 1906 and how these impacted on the writing of party history. This will contribute to our understanding of how pre- and post-revolutionary Russian historiography on the Russian revolution developed.
