摘要
To most end users, open means being able to buy hardware and software from a variety of vendors, and have them work seamlessly in a given application. But regardless of definition or perspective, openness in the automation industry is largely achieved through the use of standards, either sanctioned or de facto. This paper will explore the use of open systems in the manufacturing environment - examining the panacea that openness originally promised versus the results integrators and end users are seeing today.
