Influence of zinc on cadmium induced cytotoxicity in cultured rat liver cells

摘要
Rat liver cells (Anr 4) were used for the effect of exogenous zinc supplementation on cadmium (Cd) induced cytotoxicity. Viability of cells was assessed by means of the neutral red (NR) uptake inhibition assay. Zinc (Zn) pretreatment provided the protection against 25, 50 and 100 mu M of Cd. The proliferation of cells was determined by the measurement of total protein. Partial Zn protection was observed above 50 mu M Cd. Leakage of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) into the medium was used to assess Cd-induced cell membrane damage. Zinc pretreatment decreased the release of LDH at low concentrations of Cd.
