摘要
In the recent areas, Wireless Sensors Networks (WSNs) are becoming an essential technology in various applications. Its integration with Internet of Things (IoT) has opened the door for wide range of applications. Increasing the quality of service of WSN in general and the industrial applications of it in particular has motivated researchers to concentrate on solving various issues in its layers. One crucial part is Medium Access Control (MAC) layer and the scheduling protocols. Thus, numerous protocols were developed under WSNs MAC scheduling. Two important protocols are mostly recognized by researchers and industries, namely, IEEE 802.15.4 and ISA 100.11a. However, they were not considered in thorough comparison in large scale WSNs. This paper provides quantitative comparison of them in terms of various quality of service and WSNs communication measures. Results show that IEEE 802.15.4 is more superior in terms of PDR and throughput while ISA 100.11a is more superior in terms of E2E delay and preserving consumed energy.
