摘要
The velocity distribution in a mixed-flow cooling-water pump has been determined by means of the laser doppler velocimetry. It has been compared with the results obtained from a simplified flow calculation starting from an inviscid quasi-three-dimensional assumption as well as with the results of a commercial Navier-Stokes code. The variations between the results obtained by the Navier-Stokes code and the measured velocities are considerable. In contrast to the simplified calculation, the Navier-Stokes code is however able to qualitatively simulate the recirculation phenomena that occur in the tip area of the rotor blade Inlet and in the hub area of the rotor blade outlet for partial loads as well as to show the dependence of pump head and power demand on the flow rate in the overall operating range in almost real dimensions.
