The low-energy electron spectrum from the α-decay of 241Am

摘要
The low-energy electron spectrum from the alpha-decay of Am-241 has been analysed in the region of 2.5-22.5 keV at the 20 eV instrumental resolution using a combined electrostatic spectrometer and a radioactive source prepared by vacuum evaporation. Energies 26343.8 +/- 1.7, (?)27020 +/- 7, 33 192.5 +/- 2.5, 42704 +/- 5, 43420 +/- 3, and 123052 +/- 7 eV have been determined for nuclear transitions in Np-237. Relative intensities of some conversion electron lines of these transitions have also been derived. For the 26.3 keV E1 and 43.4 keV M1 + E2 transitions, the nuclear structure parameters eta, xi and the E2 admixture Delta, respectively, have been obtained. Values of 9994 +/- 5, 10 186 +/- 5, and 13977 +/- 5 eV were measured for the dominant L3M4M5((1)G(4)), L3M5M5(F-3(4)), and L2M4M5((1)G(4)) Auger transitions in Np, respectively.
