摘要
This paper examines urban poverty in Africa in the context of structural adjustment. The paper begins by examining briefly some of the external and internal factors responsible for Africa's poverty and locks at structural adjustment as an IMF and World Bank prescription intended to bring African economies back into the path of sustainable growth. The paper also considers the social impact of structural adjustment and how this has exacerbated the problem of urban poverty. Lastly, the paper looks at the implications for social work practice.
