摘要：

Public policies, related to aging and old age, are called to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of the populations; The exponential demographic growth of Latin America and the Caribbean, in a context of violation of the rights of the elderly, especially in Colombia, promotes the need to implement effective and efficient actions to protect this population sector. The analysis of the relationship between the approaches, the quality of life and the historical perspective of public policies on aging and old age are an exhortation for the creation of comprehensive systems for the comprehensive protection of old age.
