Massive intraabdominal hemorrhage after arterial rupture of a stalked uterine myoma

We report here on a 38-year-old patient with acute abdomen due to massive intraabdominal hemorrhage following the rupture of an artery of a stalked uterine myoma. The patient initially reported sudden dizziness, sweating and thoracic pain and was referred to the Department of Internal Medicine of our hospital by the emergency doctor with the diagnosis by exclusion of cardiac infarction, pneumonia, circulatory failure and was treated accordingly. Massive intraabdominal hemorrhage due to rupture of an artery of a stalked uterine myoma is very rare and has only been reported 5 times in the literature to date. When an intraabdominal hemorrhage occurs, initial considerations include the possibility of an extrauterine pregnancy (with a 38-year-old patient), rupture of an ovarian cyst, rupture of a hemangioma or rupture of an aortic aneurysm.
