摘要
Electric current, temperature and densification behaviour in electrical heating compaction of powder are simulated by finite element methods. The differential equations governing the electric current and heat conduction are formulated by using the Galerkin method, respectively. The densification behaviour during the compaction is simulated by the viscoplastic finite element method. The coupled effect of the electric current, temperature and densification behaviour is approximately dealt with by switching the electric current, heat condition and viscoplastic finite element analyses in each deformation step. The electric current, temperature and densification behaviour in electrical heating compaction of iron powder into a cylinder are simulated by the present simulator. The density is non-uniformly distributed by the friction and the temperature distribution, and thus the current is also distributed. The temperature of the compact is decreased near the die surfaces due to the heat transfer to the die.
